A Peak in the Film and Theatre side of Communication

In the hearts of our 3rd year, 1st semester, a collective vision unfolded, intertwining the fields of theatre and film in an unforgettable narrative. “Dalawang Mukha ng Hustisya” radiated the stage, while “Sa Likod ng Entablado” captured the untold stories, weaving the tapestry of creativity and communication.

Step behind the curtains with us as we dive into the enchanting story behind our project, uncovering and showcasing the inception, the hurdles, and the triumphant moments that shaped it all.

To end our 3rd year’s first semester amidst the windy charm of December, we witnessed a unique marvel— a fusion of theatre and film in a project that set our creative spirits.

Our theatre play, entitled: Dalawang Mukha ng Hustisya, found its home in the digital realm as it was operated through the social media accounts of The COMMpact Media Group, skillfully organized by our social media management team. Here, storytelling transcended physical borders and resonated across screens. Meanwhile, Sa Likod ng Entablado stood as a powerful representation of the deep emotional and creative essence, capturing the passion, dedication, and artistic spirits that fueled the performance. A documentary that commemorates the sweat, tears, and triumphs that shaped our artistic journey.

This production wasn’t confined to a stage or a screen as it extended beyond the traditional boundaries of theatre or cinema; it was a living, breathing testament to the power of collaboration, creativity, and technology. Thus, the documentary film captured all the challenges each team faced and the accomplishments from the daily rehearsals of casts and the preparations of staff.

Each team pulled and poured together their efforts and time into this. Starting from the writers and producers, who meticulously selected the right cast as well as guide them on how they will execute the lines and movements, to the actors, who breathed life into their characters, infusing every line with emotion and depth. Behind the scenes, the production crew worked hard to ensure every set piece and lighting cue would blend into perfection.

In the midst of it all, our director, an illustrious alumna, guided us with expertise and grace.  At the age of 23, Ms. Jolly Olino, currently a dedicated Production Associate at ABS-CBN, took on the role of thrilling responsibility of leading the way for the ABCM 3-1 theatre play.

According to her, the experience was an intense journey, a rollercoaster of emotions spanning from amazement to moments of uncertainty. Even through tears and hopeful whispers, a profound gratitude for the team emerged. Despite sleepless nights and challenging rehearsals, creativity and adaptability turned challenges into opportunities for imaginative expression. For her, at one point she even lost everything, but in the end, she attained more than what she wanted.

“At one point, I even lost everything, but in the end, gained so much more than I could ever imagine, and it’s all because of passion of each process, but there are so much more things to learn from everyone,” she shared.

After the impactful theatre production and completing her studies at EACC, Ms. Jolly Olino finds herself in the blink of a fresh chapter, sensing the shifts in her journey and the extent of her feats. Now, she has attained her dream job, promising a wealth of learning experiences and growth. And for our aspiring COMMshies, Ms. Jolly Olino imparts this valuable advice:

“To all aspiring CommSHIES and taking theatre, It will be all worth the process. You know this already, so don’t fear the unknown or all the changes taking place. Trust yourself. Listen to your intuition! You will come out on top! Every single thing is working; just trust your creativity and capabilities. Even the things that might disturb your passion in Arts/play is teaching you to come back to your center. All of the changes you're going through are extending and refining your enthusiasm for theater, causing you to trust more, believe more, let go, surrender, and welcome more. When you're in the heat of the moment, it's easy to lose sight of this. You may forget that you are already experiencing what you previously thought, felt, and spoke into existence.

The point is to keep reminding yourself when you are caught up in the midst of things that everything is working out for you.” — Ms. Jolly Olino, EACC Alumna, Production Associate at ABS-CBN.

All in all, this production wasn’t just a project or a school requirement; it was an odyssey, a testament to the boundless potential when creativity, passion, and collaboration converge. Hence, to our aspiring communication students there, PADAYON STARS!
