1. Strong Public Speaker

Communication students are not just talking. As the program says, they must communicate effectively; with that, they must be persuasive, allowing them to form connections, influence decisions, and motivate change to the listeners. 


2. Effective Writer

Clear, factual, and simple—that's how you write effectively. It is important to write in a way that readers can effortlessly understand. Hence, being an effective writer contributes to general improvement in communication.


3. Active Listener

Speaking, writing, and reading are not enough if you are a communication student. "Active listening means being fully present with the person who is speaking, giving them your full attention, and not just waiting for your turn to talk," says Dr. Amy Ricke, a communication expert and professor at the University of Missouri. In order to come-up with an even greater idea, you must first listen to your surroundings, with biases aside.


4. Visual Designer

In communication arts, you’re not just using your voice and mouth to relay information to your audience; visual creativity is also a crucial skill that a communication arts student possesses; this also includes the use of graphic design, website development, and video editing.


5. Media Literate

Media literacy refers to the ability to interact with media from a position of active inquiry, carefully considering media texts, the forces and factors that shape those texts, and the ways in which audiences interpret the texts or otherwise respond (E. Scharrer & Y. Zhou, 2022).


6. Marketer

Marketing is a huge part of the communication students may encounter in their chosen program. Digital advertising, search engine optimization (SEO), content marketing, and other areas in the field are taught to BA Communications students to effectively communicate a brand’s message to its audience. With their broad range of skills, they can successfully navigate the digital world and take advantage of the effectiveness of online communication in campaigns.


7. Highly Attuned to Current Events: As individuals who communicate information to the right audiences at the right time, communication students must first know the latest information to send.


8. Thinks Critically

It is crucial for communication students to think critically because this will touch on all aspects given the breadth of professions covered by communication arts. In fact, according to the Thadomal Shahani Center for Management, critical thinking helps improve decision-making, enhances problem-solving ability, refines research skills, polishes creativity and stimulates curiosity.
